With many different places on the web to purchase t-shirts, why should I buy my t-shirt from S2S Nation?

First of all our shirts are made from 70% viscous from organic bamboo and 30% organic cotton. Bamboo grows rapidly and naturally without any pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers; all you need is rain. Bamboo plants absorb about 5 times the amount of CO2 and produce about 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. Growing bamboo improves soil quality and helps rebuild eroded soil. The extensive root system of bamboo holds soil together, prevents soil erosion, and retains water in the watershed. Bamboo clothing (both mechanically and chemically manufactured) is 100% biodegradable and can be completely decomposed in the soil by micro-organisms and sunlight without decomposing into any pollutants such as methane gas which is commonly produced as a by-product of decomposition in landfills and dumps.
Organic cotton is the other component of our shirts. While conventional cotton uses 25% of the world’s insecticides, 10% of the world’s pesticides and 3000 cubic meters of water per acre to grow; they even use pesticides when the cotton is still just a little seed. On the other hand, organic cotton is generally rain fed. This is possible because organic cotton crops are rotated, allowing the soil to maintain its nutrients and hold water better than regular cotton crops. Another benefit is that instead of bombarding the ground with huge amounts of chemicals, weeds are picked by hand on organic cotton farms; just like you did when you were a kid and your mom needed help in the garden. Not only does this keep the plants and animals alive and healthy, it keeps a lot of farmers employed.
Secondly, S2S Nation is trying to build a socially responsible company that puts a high importance on providing an enjoyable cool place for our employees to work. Therefore we want to work with other companies that share these same values. This is why the company that provides our shirts uses factories that are third party audited using the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) Monitoring system, which is based on the labor standards of the International Labor Organization (ILO). Check out more info regarding the BSCI at www.bsci-eu.org.
Most fabric production is not perfect; including Bamboo. The current problem is that that NaOH is used to break down bamboo fiber in order to make bamboo yarn. Sodium Hydroxide, while not great, is one of the most widely used chemicals in the world. It is used in the production of most cotton fabrics as well during wet processing, making paper, drinking water, soaps and detergents. It is approved for use on textiles under the Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) and the manufacturers of these shirts take all the necessary steps for safe disposal. Even though it’s not perfect it is necessary to use chemicals in production and it is a far cry from using mass amounts of pesticides and insecticides. We are confident this process will improve soon.
Ok that’s great information, what about the shirts!

How about the designs?
Have you ever had an awesome t-shirt and been walking down the street or went to school and seen someone wearing the exact same t-shirt. Kind of sucks right? That’s why we are making these shirts limited edition t-shirts. Each design that is chosen in the top 5 for either men or women will be made in limited edition runs of only 500. Meaning, the chances of you running into someone wearing the exact same cool t-shirt design are very slim. We will run best of the best competitions where the winners will be reprinted with the designer’s signature or with a different color; we are still working on those details. But those shirts will still be different than the original, and only 500 more will be made of the winners of the best of the best contest. Designers will also make more commissions if they create a really good design.
Now that you have your cool great fitting t-shirt, is there anything else I need to know?
At S2S Nation we believe in helping people out. So 5% of each shirt purchase will go to the charity you chose based on the acronym NATION.
